One of the most popular items at Planet Renu are these silicone food covers, meant to replace plastic wrap, so I decided to collaborate with them to offer these in my online shop for May!
I love these because they’re dishwasher, microwave, and freezer-safe. They’re made of high-quality, food-grade silicone which is non-toxic unlike plastic wrap which can leach chemicals (especially at high temperatures). Please don’t microwave with plastic wrap (which is only safe if the microwavable plastic wrap is not touching the food—but still…).
But the best part of these silicone food covers is the fact that they’re reusable. I mainly use the same sized ones for the frequently used bowls in our kitchen. But there are 8 different sizes for all your needs, the largest of which can fit a small mixing bowl.
I also like that silicone is super durable so this will last you a very long time. And at the end of life silicone doesn’t degrade into micro-plastic pieces (though yes silicone is still a non-biodegradable polymer).
And this isn’t to say I don’t have any plastic wrap in my kitchen (I “inherited” a large Costco size one from my mom when she moved which should last me my lifetime now that I rarely use it). Now I just wish these came in a square or rectangular shape for my other cooking pans!
