CurrentBody LED Light Therapy Mask Review

*This item was a gift and I did not purchase this mask, however all opinions are my own.

When I turned 40 I talked about my red led wand and as much as I love that (and still use it as part of my skin care routine), I can’t get over the impact from this gifted red led therapy mask from CurrentBody.

I’m no newbie to the red LED mask game, having used my beloved red LED mask for almost a year before it died (the cord connections stopped working and it would flicker terribly). I used that one about every other day and noticed that it really helped even out my skintone and reduce maskne (acne from masks—this was 2021). But wow has LED light therapy mask technology improved since then!

not me, but I would probably look like this too (except I don’t have the neck portion)

First of all, the LED lights on these are waaaay stronger and more clustered together than in my old LED mask, thus leading to a more intense bright light. This flexible mask, which is secured to your head with an elastic band, also sits closer to your face leading to a more intense exposure as well (but it’s not hot at all since it’s LED after all). They recommend doing a light test on another area of your body before doing it on your face just to make sure you don’t have a light sensitivity—and I highly recommend following instructions and doing it. I was fine on the light test on my arm but I did notice some light sensitivity on my face when I did it for the first time for the full 10 minutes. Thus for the first couple of weeks I only did it once a week—and it was enough.

Another vast improvement with the CurrentBody LED mask is that you do not have to be plugged in to use it. It charges with a USB charger and holds the charge for about 3 sessions. So that means you don’t have to stay near an outlet everytime you use it. So technically, yes you can go around doing chores with this mask on (and scare the bejeezus out of any family members you come across). But I don’t recommend it because the red LED lights are so blinding, you really can’t see well (and it tbh it hurts my eyes). So all those Insta ads where you see the person reading a book while wearing a flexible LED light mask are quite frankly lies lol.

I also love that this mask has an automatic timer for 10 minutes so you never have to worry how long to use it. They recommend using it for 10 minutes everyday, but again I think it depends if your skin can handle it.

And if it can, the rewards are plentiful. The red LED and near infrared reduces wrinkles and improves skin texture by boosting collagen production. It also helps to heal current zits and old acne scars. Seriously, if you’re thinking of getting one skin care tool, I highly recommend getting this LED light therapy mask. I look forward to using it for years to come (and of course will update this review if it ever putts out).

And thanks again to the kind people at CurrentBody for this magnificent skin care tool!

P.S. I forgot to add that if you’re interested in purchasing one for yourself, the code FAIRLYCB gets you 10% off your order.
