Ree Projects Review: The Medium Wyn Bag

I had been eyeing the medium Wyn bag from Ree Projects since the beginning of summer when I saw Sherri, the owner of the boutique McMullen, carrying it around during her travels in Paris (see below). But for $750, the price was quite a bit steeper than I was prepared to pay. So I was thrilled to see it on sale on FarFetch (I paid about 40% off), and I nabbed the last one they had in stock. And I’m so glad that I did because I absolutely love this bag.

Earlier this year I had tried a different crossbody bag, the Hermes Evelyne, which I didn’t love even after purchasing an organizer for it. It was just so floppy and not really my style. But having that one has made me appreciate this Ree Projects bag so much more. I love the leather of this Wyn bag— a smooshy nappa leather that’s so pillowy and soft. However because it’s made of smooth leather, the bag does scratch quite easily so keep it away from sharp objects. Yet the shininess of the leather disguises the scratches fairly well (but maybe this is why all the new Wyn bags are now made of suede instead). I also love the lightness of the bag. The inside is lined with suede so it also feels super luxe inside, but overall the bag is quite lightweight.

The strap is not adjustable so that could be a drawback for some, but I find the length to be just right—it hits right above my hip. It’s the perfect sling-like length. The soft leather strap also twists, which makes it interesting, and the thickness of the leather makes it really comfortable.

My only gripe with the bag is that there’s no pockets inside so it can get a bit disorganized, unless you use pouches. I’ve been just throwing all the stuff in there and it hasn’t been too much trouble. But I can see that if you have a lot of little things, it would be a tad hard to find them at the bottom of the bag. Though the nice thing about the bag is that even if the compartment itself is not huge (I would say it’s about medium-sized), if you have to carry a lot of items, you can leave the top unzipped and the sling-like nature of the bag makes it easy to carry everything. I took it to the pumpkin patch above and was able to fit (along with the essentials), Emi’s water bottle, a plastic container of crackers, two ears of corn, and two small pumpkins.

I really love this bag and Ree Projects made another hit bag! I’m so happy that the brand seems to be thriving, with more stores carrying their bags. If you’re interested you can see my Ree Projects Helene bag review here and the Ann mini tote bag here.
