Frame Denim Review

I discovered Frame denim way before I started blogging and reviewing clothes. So it never occurred to me to review them even though I do occasionally buy new-to-me (aka secondhand) Frame jeans. But since I had a reader who was interested, plus a couple Insta people commenting on them, I decided to talk about their jeans. First of all I’m pretty picky when it comes to jeans (but who isn’t). Everyone wants a jean that fits them well of course, but I also like jeans that are extra comfy. So no raw denim jeans for me, no matter how much longer they’ll last. Even though elastane containing jeans are not as durable as 100% cotton, they don’t wear down that much. I’ve only worn through one pair of highly elastic jeans before and they were jean leggings from J Brand. So this means all my favorite jeans have at least 5% of elastane or other stretchy plastic fiber. And so Frame is perfect for me since they always have a little stretch to them.

I’m wearing my favorite pair of jeans from Frame in the pics above. It’s called Denrock and they don’t sell them anymore (these jeans are at least 4 years old). I love that they are a straight leg trouser in a fairly simple dark wash. I do have these hemmed by an inch so that they are an ankle length on my 5’4” frame. I’m wearing a 28 in these and I would say Frame jeans fit true to size. The nice thing about Frame jeans is that I’m consistently a 28 so it makes it easy for me to shop for them online. I actually just repurchased these jeans for $25 on the RealReal (they were on deep discount) and I knew they were the Denrock because they have a special blend of fibers (67% cotton, 27% lyocell, 4% polyester, 2% elastin). No other style of Frame jeans have this specific fiber make-up. I’ve actually seen these Denrock jeans on the RealReal a couple times if you’re interested. The only thing that I don’t care for about these jeans is that they’re low-waisted and you know high-waisted jeans are all the rage now.

So I just purchased these new high waisted jeans from Frame (in the pic above). It’s called the Le High Straight Leg. Even though it’s cropped, you can see for me that it’s the perfect length for me. I considered getting them cropped but I kind of like them as full length.

Frame jeans are pretty expensive and that’s because they’re manufactured in Los Angeles. They average around $230! So I hope for that price and being USA-made, that they’re made ethically. But of course that’s no guarantee. Nowadays I always buy my Frame jeans from the RealReal (their current selection of Frame jeans here). They usually go for anywhere between $40-$65, and they’re usually in great shape (some are even hardly worn). I have the search saved in my feeds on TRR app and whenever I feel like I need a new pair (like when I purchased the high waisted ones), I’ll purchase several to try out. Yes the $12 shipping is a pain, but I purchase through paypal so at least I get refunded on my return shipping. So that extra $12 is worth it to buy $200+ jeans for around $50. So even though I don’t know for sure if Frame is an ethical or sustainable company, I can enjoy their jeans sustainably by purchasing them used! And man I love their jeans!

I would say if you’re a pear shaped gal like myself with a bigger butt, hips, and thighs, then get jeans with a little stretch from Frame. Also I find their cuts work well and don’t give me the baggy crotch area (where there’s a big annoying V in the front), and I’m pretty sure it’s because of the stretch in their denim. Anyway I highly recommend Frame jeans and I highly highly recommend getting them secondhand!
