Moving from conspicuous to conscious consumption and doing reviews along the way.  Find plenty of unsponsored reviews of Quince, Everlane, Grana, and Cuyana on the site!  I'm working towards a minimal waste lifestyle, and oh yea I love bags >.<

What I Bought, Returned, and Sold in February

What I Bought (and Kept)

Home Master Reverse Osmosis Water Filter: I’ve been wanting a reverse osmosis water filter ever since reading about PFOA in our water systems. There’s no real way to remove this chemical but filtering via reverse osmosis may be one of the only ways to do so. I purchased this off of Amazon but chose this brand because they’re made in the USA with excellent customer service (according to reviews, luckily we were able to install it with no hiccups).

Jenni Kayne Silk top from the RealReal: It was in my what I’m eyeing from TRR post and I ended up buying it for myself lol, but no regrets!

Everlane Perform leggings in medium: In my review I told y’all why I purchased these.

A bunch of thrifted clothes from Crossroads, which came out to $0 since I had a ton of credit. I’ve pretty much worn the Anthropologie sweatshirt 5 times a week since I got it and is so far the best purchase of the bunch lol. I wore the theory dress to a friend’s birthday and the Michael stars top about 3 times. I sold the Frame top on the RealReal (it was a tad too small) for $25 net credit so that was a wash. I look forward to incorporating the rest to my current wardrobe!

What I was Gifted

Everlane Alpaca Cardigan: Since Everlane changed their affiliate system—you have to fill out a tedious form every time letting them know how much you’re “worth” (aka how much money you make for them)—I’m less inclined to review gifted items. But I just wanted to try out the process at least once. And I guess I proved my worth since I was able to get the alpaca cardigan I asked for. But tbh it came so late in the winter season for Cali that I’ve only worn it a handful of times. Not sure if I’m going to do a review of it, but if you’re interested let me know and I can :)

Last Brand French Linen sheets: This is a new collaboration for me. I guess my two unsponsored posts for the brand garnered enough clicks, so they offered to send me gifted items to review. I chose their Oeko-tex linen sheets because I’ve been hearing about the wonder of linen bed sheets for a long time. I’ve been quite impressed with LB’s quality for the value and look forward to reviewing these soon.

What I (Bought and) Returned:

Ulla Johnson jumpsuit, sweater, and shoes from the RealReal (TRR): As much as I love UJ stuff, I needed to slow my roll on accumulating her stuff. I also did a TRR detox and deleted the app off my phone.

Jenni Kayne mules: I know I’m crazy because I already did a review of them. But one of you guys suggested trying them used. And they were totally right because it was a lot more comfortable and now I see why so many women love them. BUT, they still don’t have a padded insole, and now that I’m used to the loveliness that is St. Agni mules, I can’t go back lol.

Everlane Leather Slip-on (pictured below): These reminded me so much of TOMS shoes, which I looooved in my 20s. I would say these are pretty comfortable, even for those with a wide-ish foot like myself. But they didn’t spark any excitement in me and I didn’t really need another pair of black leather shoes, so I sent them back.

I finally tried some things on my wishlist from years ago as a birthday gift to myself. Learning my lesson from the Jenni Kayne mules (I eyed them for years, finally bit the bullet and didn’t really like them once I tried them out) I decided to try everything on my Shopbop wishlist at one time so I can either love ‘em or get over ‘em. Also this way it would be just one big shipment and one return shipment. I tried the agolde Riley jeans that I had been eyeing for almost 2 years, and glad I finally did because they were a big nope. I also tried this Ulla Johnson sweatshirt that I’d been eyeing since last year. I loved the big puffy sleeves but I don’t think I could walk down the street in it and take myself seriously. I keep seeing puffy sleeves everywhere in stores but I don’t know if its because I’m drawn to them or if it’s seriously a trend that’s just going to keep getting bigger (in which case I wonder if I would feel confident enough to pull them off at a later date). I also let myself try out the Cafune Stance bag and the Tory Burch Lee Radziwill bag for comparison. The Cafune bag has been on my radar for awhile, but when I saw the Tory Burch one I impulsively added it to my cart to try it out. Anyway I’ll talk more about both of these in a future review.

What I Sold/Selling

notPerfectLinen skirt: (sold) I love the idea of a romantic linen skirt like this nPL skirt (reviewed here) but I just don’t reach for it very often. I’m just much more of a linen pants kind of person.
