Toteme T-Lock Clutch Review

I received this Toteme T-Lock Clutch bag as a Christmas present from the family (but of course I picked it lol). When deciding between the clutch size and the regular size, I decided to go with the clutch since the regular one looked so much larger. But I did want a top handle to hold it with since that’s my favorite way to hold a bag so I added a chain I found on Etsy and it’s the perfect combo.

First off, the size of the bag is quite large for a clutch. The bag measures 5.5” x 10.2” x 3.5” so it can fit all the essentials and then some. Sunglasses, wallet, phone, and keys are no problem. The T-Lock Top Handle bag on the other hand measures 6.7” x 13.7” x 4.5” and to me almost 14” long is quite long. IMO that’s a bit too long for a petite person, but I can see why the top handle is necessary.

The T-Lock clutch that I have is made of smooth flexible leather and gold hardware. The pebbled leather would probably be more durable and less prone to scratches but it has silver hardware, and I prefer gold.

Fiddly T-Lock

I love this bag for it’s unique and sleek shape, the great quality leather, adjustable straps, and the fact that even the clutch has feet on the bottom (a nice touch). The price point, though not cheap, isn’t ludicrous. However I don’t like the T-Lock (that’s basically the main feature of the bag). The lock is quite fiddly and hard to close. So it means a lot of the time my bag is not locked/fully closed (because even the times I thought I locked it, nope I didn’t catch the little piece that locks it). And if you’re wearing the bag, locking it is usually a two-handed operation (one hand to hold the bag steady and the other to do the lock). Unfortunately it makes this bag significantly less versatile and it wouldn’t be a bag I would take to travel or in a crowded place.

After writing this review, I’ve realized that I don’t reach for it because of the lock. I much rather use my very-easy-to-use black Loewe puzzle bag over this one. And if I need an evening bag, I might go for my black Chanel flap (which doesn’t get out much either lol). Anyway since I don’t love LOVE it, and I have too many bags as it is, I’m selling this bag (with the chain included) here.
