Anothersole Paloma Shoes Review

*This item was gifted but all opinions here are my own.

Every once in awhile I’ll receive an email asking for a feature on the blog from a company that aligns with my values. But from that bunch, there’s even a smaller percentage where I actually love the look of their product. So I might do one or two of these “cold call” type reviews a year. And one of these for 2022 is the brand Anothersole. After taking a look at their website I requested the Palomas in the color Clay.

If you haven’t heard of them, they are a Singaporean brand that specialize in comfortable leather flats. They use LWG (Leather Working Group) certified leathers— leather from tanneries that use responsible tanning practices like recycling 100% of their water from tanning. And their inner soles are made bio-based materials and recycled plastic. And the outer sole is 100% rubber (a natural polymer from the rubber tree). They also have a charity arm where 10% of their profits are donated to feed children.

Of course, there are a lot of companies nowadays that work towards sustainability. So what sets Anothersole apart? I think it’s their luxurious shoes that are actually really comfortable. I used their sizing chart and measured my foot to get a size 9 (or European size 40). And that was mostly because my foot is wide and I wanted to make sure the shoe would be comfortable across the front of my foot (a usual problem area). And I have no problems with the width at all. I do find that because I sized up (I’m usually a size 8), that the shoe is a tad longer than what I’m used to. But I don’t have any issues with the extra length. I think if I were to wear these shoes sans sock I could get away with a size 39. But as I do wear it with socks (with my Quince organic no show socks which I love because they actually stay on), I find the 40 to be just right. If you’re wondering about your size I would highly recommend measuring your feet on a piece of paper and consulting their sizing chart.

Wearing my shoes at work (Planet Renu)

Since the leather is so soft and sumptuous I think these shoes would mold to your feet with time (like my Martiniano glove shoes). But I also appreciate that these shoes have a flexible rubber sole (unlike my glove shoes) to make walking around very easy. And unlike the Martiniano shoes, Anothersole shoes are priced very reasonably and are a great value.

I was a little nervous about getting white leather shoes, so I protected them with my favorite Chamberlain’s leather milk for shoes (but you can also use any leather protection spray). And I’ve had no issues yet on keeping them clean. I like wearing these shoes most often at work because they’re comfortable enough to wear all day, and are a great mix of casual yet polished. I also like the low cut at the ankles to help enlongate my short legs.

Overall I’m super happy with these shoes and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality pair of leather sneakers!
