Augustinus Bader Review: The Body Cream vs. The Body Lotion {Updated January 2022}

Augustinus Bader Review Body Cream vs Body Lotion

Thanks to you guys who used my 20% off referral link for your first Augustinus Bader Club order, I was able to earn enough credit to get the AB Body Cream for $5. And since I decided to make a replenishment order for the cream I got the travel size AB Body Lotion for free. These two AB products (but especially the body cream) have been on my radar for awhile but I couldn’t quite justify spending $165 for a body product. I mean yes I have scars from my C-section and hysterectomy, but no one else really sees them so who cares. But if I can try it for $5, sure why not?

So do they work?

I would say yes the AB Body Cream works and can fade scars and stretch marks a bit (but be warned it’s no miracle elixir). I tend to get keloid scars and have some pretty gnarly scarring from my two surgeries in 2019 (C-section and hysterectomy). I hadn’t done any treatment for them since like I said above no one really sees them and it doesn’t really bother me much. But my scars are a pretty good test for the AB products to see if they actually do anything. Well within a month of using the AB Body Cream my C-section scar had faded drastically. The thinnest or flattest part of the scar faded the quickest, while the middle bit of the scar (where the keloid is the thickest) is still a bit pinkish. So overall I would say the Body Cream, which has a very thick almost solid-like consistency does work. And just to note, when using the Body Cream you need to scoop some out from the jar (not my favorite product design by the way) and warm it up in your hands before you can rub it into the skin because it’s so rich and thick.

As for the AB Body Lotion, I can’t really tell if it does a whole lot. The consistency is much thinner and yes it does moisturize but I wouldn’t say it’s worth the $95. For the lotion, I tested it on a relatively new scar on my elbow. And TBH it doesn’t look like it changed much in color.

So of the two I definitely recommend getting the cream over the lotion. And for the most part I’m only using them on my problem spots instead of lathering it from head to toe. I think unless you’re swimming in coin, Scrooge McDuck style, using an AB product all over your body is a bit much.

As for me, I ordered this first jar as a replenishment (to get the free body lotion) but I have already paused the next shipment indefinitely. It was great to try out these products but I’m not that concerned about erasing my scars (since they’re my battle wounds after all) and don’t plan to make this a recurring purchase. I think the AB Body Cream works well for minor scars or stretch marks, but if you’re looking for a real game changer you probably need something prescribed by a doctor or a medical procedure.

P.S. You can find all my other Augustinus Bader reviews here.

{January 2022 Update: I’ve finally finished the body cream, about 4 months after starting it (but I only really used it on my mid-section where I have the most scars). I wouldn’t say the scars improved vastly from when I wrote this review (the initial healing seemed to be more pronounced). I don’t think I’ll re-purchase the body cream (and I definitely did not repurchase the lotion). But I’ll let you know if things start looking worse and I feel compelled to buy the body cream again (which I highly doubt).}
