Weekend Update/Ramblings

Habit Tracker iphone app review

I was recently inspired by Eva Chen and Jessica to start using a habit tracker. I’ve never used one before but was intrigued when Eva started using a paper one. Yet it didn’t seem like something I would keep up with. But when Jessica mentioned using an app, I thought I’d give it a try. I found one that I liked (I think it might be the same one Jessica uses but I’m not sure) simply called Habit Tracker. I love that it has fun colors and little bar graphs along with data to kind of gamefy the whole thing. This habit tracker also works on my new Apple watch and so that’s been a fun thing to use it to check things off my list. So far the habits I’m working on right now are eating more veggies, complete my Apple watch activity rings (which is harder than it seems), do yoga most days, and sit for 15-20 minutes under an led face mask that I bought for my mom but am trying out to review (and actually at this rate, I might buy one for myself too lol).

And about my Apple watch, of course I’ll be doing a full review of it but I just have to say it may be big and bulky (and not the most comfy to wear) but my goodness it’s a wonderful tool. It’s not only great for motivating me to workout but I’ve been noticing it’s helped me look at my phone less too (since I don’t go down the email/insta/news rabbit hole after checking texts or the time). It’s not for everyone but I feel like a lot of people would find it useful.

Also, has anyone tried the Our Place Always Pan? I recently started thinking about PFOA’s again (I originally had these hormone-disrupting chemicals in mind when I installed a reverse osmosis water filter which I mentioned here). Well I’ve always known non-stick pans are coated with this harmful chemical, that basically builds up in our system and can cause numerous detrimental health effects (according to the EPA) including tumors in mammals and accelerated puberty. Well my mom has been a lifelong fan of nonstick pans and I wonder if that may be linked with me hitting puberty at 9 years old, my fertility issues, and my uterine fibroids (which are nonmalignant tumors). As a responsible public health grad school graduate I of course cannot say it’s casual and that this is just my anecdotal evidence. Anyway all of this has made me consider getting a non Teflon coated pan for my daughter. It might be too late for me, but I definitely would want to avoid these issues for her if possible. This has made me consider getting this Always Pan from Our Place. So has anyone tried it or have any thoughts on ceramic coated pans in general? If you guys are interested in getting this pan, this referral link gives you $20 off (and it would help me too by giving me $20 off my first purchase, lol—thanks for helping me fund my future reviews!).
