Only Child Clothing Review: Tencel Cove Pants

Only Child Review Cove Tencel Pants

Since I love my Only Child Linen Cove pants so much (it was one of my most worn items of 2020), I decided to get the black tencel Cove pants during Only Child’s sample sale last November. And even though I’ve already reviewed the linen Cove pants, I decided to do a seperate one for this tencel version since it’s slightly different from my first pair.

First of all the sizing. I again got it in the Medium petite size and again decided to hem them another inch (I’m 5’4” but with short legs) so that they hit at the ankles. The picture above shows them before I got them hemmed, and the picture below shows what they look like after hemming (tbh not a huge difference). I prefer my wide-legged pants to hit at the ankles. Even though I got the same size, I think OC might have changed their sizing pattern because the rise in these tencel Coves is about 0.5” shorter than my linen ones. And that’s too bad because even though I’m short, I have a fairly long torso, so these changes give me a little less room in the crotch (especially when sitting or bending over). Not a big deal but if I were to ever get another pair of Coves I might consider getting the regular or tall length and then hemming (which is what I used to do for Elizabeth Suzann jumpsuits).

I love that my new Coves have pockets since my linen ones did not. But these Coves have the same thick elastic waistband as my linen Coves. As for the tencel fabric, it’s a lovely heavy-weight material that make the Coves feel more like PJs. Because of the softness and drape, it feels a little more casual than my linen Coves even though these are in black while my linen ones are in oatmeal. I find the tencel does wrinkle a bit if worn all day, but nothing major. But I do have to make sure I hang my tencel pants straight instead of folded over a hanger or folded on the shelf because the fold becomes permanent until I steam/press it out.

Anyway get ready to see these tencel Coves often because I just love pants that feel like PJs but look polished enough to wear outside!
